Abduction is easily the most bizarre game on Android games, if not the most bizarre game ever. It involves you as the player helping a cow to be abducted by a UFO. This is done by bouncing the cow on platforms using the accelerometer, to control the cow and direct it towards the nearest platform. Now the overall goal is to not only get to the UFO at the end of the level, but to get the most points in doing so, with parachuting cows giving you the chance for extra points. This version of the game is available for free.
The game Abduction is controlled entirely through the accelerometer, which can be difficult at first, however adjusting the options it was easier to manage. Having the option to adjust is good thinking by the developer, another option available is the ability to change the level of detail that the graphics display. This is great if you’re running low on battery or running a high intensive app still in the background. Now back to the matter at hand. The controls however did work better when the phone was more horizontal, which may feel unnatural to some people.
The gameplay is defiantly of a high quality. The different difficulty levels helps this, with the harder stages introducing moving platforms, and descending bombs. The use of the bonus cow and present points also add more longevity to the game. The game also lets save your high scores, locally and to a global leaderboard, which adds some extras incentive to for the bonuses. However the presents can sometimes give negative gifts like less platforms or crumbling platforms, this by itself is a nice extra challenge, but compounded it can become frustrating.
The graphics are basic but nicely detailed, particularly on the highest setting with a nice animated background and different background bits appearing like a bright suns rays. However on the lowest setting these all disappear, with the middle ground being an acceptable amount. This is of course a nice option to have, but I cant imagine many people using the lowest setting out of choice because of the effort clearly placed into the highest setting.

AndroGamez Score – 8

This is an odd if not unique game, and one that has to be played to truly understand how odd it is. It is though a good game with the gameplay being unforgivably addictive, with the harder levels proving a challenge to even the hardcore gamer, case in point being the evil infinite level. The small flaws with the initially under-sensitive accelerometer are easily overlooked, because of the nice little details like being able to go off the screen on the left and appear on the right. Overall this is a game that you should download, if not just to see what the fuss is about.
